While bed pans and portable toilets were designed to address the toilet needs of hospital patients and other bedridden individuals, users find them somewhat embarrassing. Fortunately, two inventors from E. Fayetteville, N.C., have found a way to restore dignity to personal care under such circumstances.

They developed BEDSIDE COMMODE CADDY to keeps toilet accessories handy for individuals who must use a bedside commode. As such, it facilitates privacy, independence and self-esteem, allowing users to maintain dignity while attending to their toileting needs. At the same time, it promotes sanitary conditions and is reliable, practical and easy to use. It is also convenient, effective and affordably priced. In addition, its simple design minimizes production costs.

The inventors’ personal and professional experience inspired their idea. “While working with elderly patients and knowing others with temporary physical limitations that necessitated use of a bedside cmmode, we identified a need for this accessory to allow them some independence and dignity while in this situation,” one of them said.

The original design was submitted to the Durham office of InventHelp. It is currently patent pending and available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
